Ted Cruz is to make a sudden attempt to keep his presidential campaign alive by making Carly Fiorina his running mate.
He is to announce the move in Indiana this afternoon - the day after a humiliation in the five north-eastern primaries, which were all won convincingly by Donald Trump.
He promised a 'major announcement' at his afternoon rally in Indianapolis, as the candidate tries to set Indiana as the next major battleground and Trump takes a victory lap after his Tuesday night electoral romp.
Sources told Reuters it would be making Fiorina his running mate.

The Hail Mary pass is noteworthy because normally it is the presumptive party nominee who names a vice president, usually in the days leading up to the convention. In this case, it is Donald Trump who is piling up a delegate lead – though Cruz hopes to snatch the nomination away from Trump at the convention if Trump fails to get the requisite 1,237 delegates.

In math if you multiply 2 negatives you get a positive, but possibly they forget that adding to negatives gives you a larger neagative number?

I know right? To watch a Cruz speech is almost as exciting as watching paint dry. Carley just comes across as having no emotion other than repressed anger at times.

Ted Cruz is driven into his own bunkers, and simply playing defense may no longer be enough. It is far too late to be mounting a counteroffensive, there is nothing left with which to supply even the greatest will in the world.
The strategy might have worked three months ago. But the Maginot Line was simply circumvented, and now the territory has been overrun.
