“And Cruzs campaign strategy was centered on getting delegates in the early southern primaries. Failing to do that put his entire campaign in a shambles which he could never recover from.”
So disappointing - I used to really like the guy, to think that he was Presidential timber, this generation’s Reagan. Nope, he’s just another flash in the pan on that score.

There is no such guy. And he couldn’t be elected if there were. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that small government conservatism has had its run and lost. The GOP-E hates it. And Trump is the successful outsider and he is not remotely a small government conservative.
As Matt Kibbe said in 2009, the Tea Party needs to execute a hostile takeover of the Republican party. But he was talking about a conservative takeover. Trump has just successfully executed that hostile takeover; but has done so by aborting the conservative movement and our increasing numbers in congress and the state legislatures. A lot of great anti-establishment legislators are now scorned by ignorant Trump supporters as “establishment” just because they hold office. And a lot of solid conservatives are going to lose to dems this year down ticket. Even if Trump wins the presidency, anti-establishment conservatives are going to get hammered this year.
Conservatives really have no place left politically. Oh well. Maybe we can do a hostile takeover of the Libertarian party :)
