I think it’s illegal. Isn’t there some law about making promises to people for positions in your administration before you are nominated is illegal? It’s like a bribe (not that Ted has any problem with that).

There is nothing illegal about a candidate selecting a VP candidate before the convention. It doesn’t happen often but has happened before and there is nothing that makes it “illegal”.

No. Romney announced Ryan as his candidate before he was nominated. McCain did the same with Palin.
