I think Romney and Beck injured Cruz’s campaign. It began the meme of “fringe” and “establishment” ties.
Initially, I think Cruz simply waited too long to go on the offensive. He spent his money building organization and infrastructure. That has been effective. It’s no doubt. In a historical sense, it is McClellan versus Lee. Lee was on the offensive. McClellan was busy building an insurmountable army. Lee won that round.
But he should have gone on the offensive a month earlier and been content with a little less infrastructure.
I know Beck helped ruin Cruz. I don’t know why Cruz had him campaign for him.
“Initially, I think Cruz simply waited too long to go on the offensive.”
Disagree. What happened to those who attacked early ?
The only reason Cruz is still in is because he’s a beta and waited. I’d argue he still hasn’t attacked. Not convinced he’s capable of it.
If the guy had a shred of self respect he’d get out before IN. At least then he can claim he gave up something for the good of the country. Getting out after and he’s just a selfish narcissistic loser.
I think it was his message compared to Trump’s message. People are so mad and fed up at this point, Trump reached right out to those people on day one. I think Cruz was caught off guard.
As angry and fed up as I have been I had no idea so many others felt the same way. Trump knew, he is in touch with what people are feeling, the direction we want to go.
