The downfall of any society occurs when the men are no longer motivated to fight for it.
What was accomplished by patriarchy (note: patriarchy is NOT "rule by men" -- it means "rule by FATHERS", which is a very different thing), is that most men had the hope of having a wife, and having children they could be sure were theirs, and living into old age with their families. This motivated a man to work hard to provide for his family, and make sure his kids survived to give him grandkids. He would also fight to the death to protect what was HIS.
Today you have women divorcing their men, sticking them with child support, but simultaneously alienating the kids from their dad. What these women will reap is men no longer having motivation to protect them when things collapse.
A woman was once talking to me about a matriarchal culture where women held the property, and one could indicate to her man that he was no longer welcome in her bed by turning her tent around. I replied to her, that in such a society, when the barbarians came charging over the hill, the men (rather than fighting to the death to protect their village) were more likely to say among themselves "You know, I'll bet there are women just as cute as the women of this village a few miles that way. Bye".
So the question that arises is how do we reverse the trend? Or even do we want to once the inevitable fall is obvious to all? As uncomfortable as it now seems, aggressive males will be faced with the serious option of “throwing in” with the raiders.
