I saw Trump tweet this earlier today. Encouraging Sanders to go independent is a brilliant move—it would suck voters away from Hillary.

Trump should drop some cash for a Bernie run. Excellent investment. Trump could urge all his supporters to donate to Bernie.

Bank on it anyway - once Hillary gets the nomination, the youngsters for Bernie will take to the streets. The Democratic convention will be like 1968 in Chicago with riots. Bernie just may run as 3rd party anyway without anyone suggesting.

agreed. I had to smile when I heard about the tweet. But I think that Bern will probably cut some sort of deal with Clinton for a cabinet position instead. Which will make him a sellout to his supporters, some of whom will gravitate towards Trump. It’s a win-win for Trump no matter what Bernie does.
