Funny story. I gave him all the responsibility he could handle, enlisted guys LOVE that. I let him do evaluations with patients, interact with commanding officers from ships in my place, etc.
He started feeling his oats because of our relationship and how much I entrusted to him.
I used to sit behind my desk with my feet on top of it.
One day, I came into the office and my HM1 was sitting in my chair, with his feet up on the desk. Just full of himself (because of the trust I had shown him), he said, "It's not so hard sitting back here!,"
The very second he said that, the chair slipped out from underneath him and he landed on the floor.
Not a single word was exchanged after that.
