During the 2009 first inauguration Obama supporters knocked down some barriers at the Smithsonian and trampled the gardens there, ruining them.

One of the few, and pretty well buried, articles on that included an interview with an employee who had put something like 20 years into those gardens, and who was completely distraught.

I am taking inventory of my four o’clocks, planting even more tomatoes, admiring my roses and azaleas, and taking my mulch mountain from two years ago and adding it to my planting beds. The worms and bugs did their thing and broke it all down to the best stuff ever. It does take two years by the way.
