Here’s some good news: I grew up in New York city and know a lot of libs, a lot of far left ones. One of them I met over the weekend and incredibly he said he is voting for Trump!! This is a guy that voted for Obama twice, use to worship at the altar of Hitlerys cankles. I couldn’t believe it, I thought he was kidding but he wasn’t, said he is fed up with Hitlery “She is full of s**t , I’m fed up with the lying” which is his exact words, said Sanders seems too confused, but above all else he said he is supporting Trump because he said the country needs an outsider because both parties are too corrupt. Very good sign because this guy is VERY leftist! I think Trump is going to absolutely obliterate Hitlery
On the contrary, leftists voting Trump is a very bad sign.

We have two twenty something daughters that live and work in NYC. The report on the ground from them, based on talking with peers and co-workers and general talk picked up on the train/street, is that there is a lot of support for Trump in unexpected demographics and situations. This corroborates your experiences with NYC based people.
This may be anecdotal and based on unscientific observation, but it is real.
One NYC daughter and her husband (both lawyers), will be voting Trump and my other NYC daughter and her boyfriend will also be voting Trump!
Today in the (women’s)locker room at my health club in central California the consensus was that Trump was going to win. Most people were for him. One hard leftist supporting Bernie said it was Trump over Hillary if that was the choice.
I have a colleague who is very very liberal foreign black man. Has been an Obama loyalist from day one.
He stopped ME the other day, almost sheepishly, and offered, “You know, I think I can see myself voting for Trump.” I really thought he was joking and dug a little deeper.
Either he was doing a very good job of putting me on or he was serious. And he hasn’t joked around before about this stuff.
I think he meant it.
