The Israelis are clever but I really think the Atlantic Ocean deserves some credit in thwarting the flow of smuggled goods and migrants via tunnel from Mexico.

that $100 billion +/- choo choo will never be built..
it has no approved path into Los Angeles
it has no approved path into Anaheim
it has no approved path into San Francisco
it has no known plans for grade separations of all the highways and roads along the route
it so far at least has not committed to any proven technology (read this: a super-sized BART failure in the making?)
it has no arrangements to deal with its interferrence with the many freight trains or AMTRAK

it turned out to be just a giant attempted ripoff-of-the-taxpaers boondoggle is all
and everyone, or nearly everyone realizes it now

the efforts to figure out a way to cram it through..continue....however....

Timing is important of course, you want as many invaders in the tunnel as possible when you light it up.

You also want to have a drone overhead or a chopper along the border to spot the results on the other end of the tunnel and mark the location for "future attention". Actually, a bomb or missile strike on the other end might go unnoticed if timed with the tunnel going "boom"!

With the current regime, this is all wishful thinking, though.
