“EMP is overblown Internet nerd hype.”

Yeah, you keep thinking that.

Could you expand on this, please.

The EMP threat is very real...but not from the weapons North Korea or Iran currently has. It takes sufficient megatonnage to create an EMP large enough to take down the grid. And none of these rogue countries has that yet...and are probably pretty far away from it. But make no mistake, if Russia or China had the desire to destroy the grid with an EMP...or vice verse...it could be done. To think otherwise is foolishness and shows a lack of understanding of EMP...and also all the science behind it...and just how much study has been done on it...especially in the DoD.

At the same time, thinking one can sufficiently prepare for a national loss of the power grid, and survive and thrive by prepping, especially if they live in an urban area, is equal foolishness. Your supplies may buy you 3 months at best. By then, someone will have killed you for it...or the local governments will have confiscated it. You will die defended your can of beans...eventually...either at he hands of roving paramilitary groups...or at the hands of the county sheriff. The fantasy that some have that they will successfully defend those beans with their AR-15 for any extended time is just that...fantasy.
