I have seen Pepperidge Farm Split top hot dog buns, but I don’t think they’re squre or rectangular...I, being a Hick in TX thought “who’d want a weird bun like that?” They just seemed unnatural.

New England buns are rectangles and yes, split on top. As I said, they are what are used for lobster rolls and hold in the lobster salad VERY well. I also do like them for hot dogs and shrimp salad.
