No; those were due to the USSR. It was the USSR who supported Nasser against Israel and the West, which got the whole ball rolling. It was also the USSR that backed Gaddafi against King Idris of Libya.
The idea of “pan-Arabism” came from “pan-Germanism”; the combination of Arab nationalism and Islamic socialism (nationalism + socialism = ?) has only one source as well.
BTW, colonialism did not start with the Brits; and the preceding colonialism of the other European powers was far more harmful, which is why we had a Monroe Doctrine in response to that particular colonialism. Those who distort the history of British colonialism have that in common with Obama.
