According to state-owned Россия-24 news channel, President Vladimir Putin addressed a delegation of Ukrainian Orthodox Church and reiterated that nothing can shake Russia's perpetual blood alliance with Ukraine in spite of all malicious efforts exerted by the ruling junta in Kiev, adding, " rising neo-Fascism in Ukraine is like the infectious Gangrene which can spread across the European continent , and we, the people of the Russian Federation and descendents of the Soviet Union , we are determined to stop this plague."
"Should Turkey not stop supporting al-Qaeda's Syria branch, I am indeed eager to end the job the late Tsar Nicholas II left unfinished. During the World War I , He [Tsar] sought to restore Constantinople (Istanbul) to Christendom and protect Russian maritime security by liberating Dardanelles and Bosphorus straits but fate prevented him," TASS Russian News Agency cited President Putin as saying on Saturday. We also advocate Greek sovereignty over the Cyprus, added Putin, and call the Turkish regime to end its decades-long occupation of this Mediterranean island.
Referring to five-year-old Syrian crisis, Mr. Putin launched a scathing attack on Turkish president's dreadful dreams of breathing life into dead Ottoman Empire by supporting al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria and Iraq, saying prospects for a lasting cease-fire in Syria remains doubtful due to Ankara's war-like agenda and its vicious alliance with Saudi Arabia.
Ya know, in a galaxy far far away, in a different time, the president of the United States was the leader of the free world.

Things are going to be really interesting if Trump gets in and the pair really do get down to doing business.
Conservative Americans finding kinship with Putin is a sign that Republicans are trying to get back to their Lincolnian roots. Recall that Czar Alexander II threatened to break any attempt by the Brits to carry out their threat of allying with the Confederacy and blockading the US Pacific Coast during our Civil War. “Here is a report from Thurlow Weed who was a special envoy of President Lincoln to Great Britain:
It will be remembered that early in the Rebellion a Russian fleet lay for several months in our harbor, and that other Russian men-of-war were stationed at San Francisco. Admiral Farragut lived at the Astor House, where he was frequently visited by the Russian Admiral, between whom, when they were young officers serving in the Mediterranean, a warm friendship had grown up. Sitting in my room one day after dinner, Admiral Farragut said to his Russian friend, Why are you spending the winter here in idleness?’ ‘ I am here,’ replied the Russian Admiral, ‘ under sealed orders, to be broken only in a contingency that has not yet occurred.’ He added that other Russian war vessels were lying off San Francisco with similar orders. During this conversation the Russian Admiral admitted that he had received orders to break the seals, if during the Rebellion we became involved in a war with foreign nations. Strict confidence was then enjoined.
When in Washington a few days later, Secretary Seward informed me that he had asked the Russian Minister why his government kept their ships of war so long in our harbors, who, while in answering he disclaimed any knowledge of the nature of their visit, felt at liberty to say that it had no unfriendly purpose.
Louis Napoleon had invited Russia, as he did England, to unite with him in demanding the breaking of our blockade. The Russian Ambassador at London informed his government that England was preparing for war with America, on account of the seizure of Mason and Slidell. Hence two fleets were immediately sent across the Atlantic under sealed orders, so that if their services were not needed, the intentions of the Emperor would remain, as they have to this day, secret. It is certain, however, that when our government and Union were imperiled by a formidable rebellion, we should have found a powerful ally in Russia, had an emergency occurred.
The latter revelation is corroborated by a well-known New York gentleman, who was in St. Petersburg when the Rebellion began, and who, during an unofficial call upon Prince Gortschakoff, was shown by the Chancellor an order written in Alexander’s own hand, directing his Admiral to report to President Lincoln for orders, in case England or France sided with the Confederates. (Memoir of Thurlow Weed, vol. II, pp. 346-347).”
“Meanwhile the hated GOP”
I guess you don’t hate the Democratic party, or you might have said so.
Lol. Turkey has the second largest army in NATO and is one of Ruszia’s largesst oil customers.
By an atheist?
Do it Vlad, you’d have my support.
JFK should have just offered Turkey to the Soviets in exchange for removing the missiles from Cuba.
Ha ha—Putin going all Trump on Erdogan.
Enjoy the show.
Do you also like what he said about a blood alliance with Ukraine?
Do Russia’s legitimate interests include the subjugation of the Ukraine?
There are millions like me out there.
Where do you think the "power brokers" really stand?
If by "subjugation" you mean maintain them within the Russian sphere of political and cultural hegemony, I would answer yes.
But whether or not that is an agreed premise, it's certain we don't have a dog in that hunt.
Where do you draw the line defining Russia’s legitimate security interests? The Baltics? Poland? Czech Republic? The reconstruction of the old Soviet Union? Just curious.
But believe much of the Old Soviet Union is legitimate.
Where do these Russians on FR draw the line?
As long as it helps Russia, it’s good.
If Russia enslaves, destroys and kills to achieve for the greater good of Russia, the Russians think it’s a great idea.
It’s interesting that folks on FR actually think this way, doesn’t it?
Which show is that?
The wanna-be Soviet Union show? I think you already lost that once.
I think Mariner’s response in post 77 was a reasoned one, although I don’t agree with it. The USSR was an unmitigated disaster for hundreds of millions of people for 70 years of the 20th Century, and I don’t support it’s resurrection under any guise.
Just remove the Muslims from Turkey.
