If you oppose the right of your fellow citizens to pursue happiness, then yes, that is unambiguously un-American. The Declaration of Independence makes it completely clear that the right to pursue happiness stands as an equal with the right to life and the right to liberty.
So if someone enjoys murder and is happy about murdering people, I guess we should just let them do it because we would be infringing on their right to pursue happiness. Even though it is illegal.
