Colorado delegate: Trump aide said 'We're moving forward' (Manafort)

A Republican National Convention delegate from Colorado said Friday that Donald Trump's senior adviser told him the campaign was dropping its challenge to rival Ted Cruz's sweep of the state's delegates -- an account the campaign is disputing.

Guy Short, a national delegate from Colorado and member of the convention's rules committee, said he approached Trump's convention manager, Paul Manafort, after he gave Republican Party insiders a private briefing in Florida earlier this week and asked about Trump's threat to challenge what the billionaire has called a "rigged" system.

"Is the Trump campaign going to challenge the credentials of the Colorado delegation? And he said, 'no,'" Short, a Cruz supporter, said. According to Short, Manafort "said, 'Cooler heads have prevailed. We're moving forward. We're trying to unite the party.'" But Manafort characterized the exchange as a "passing comment," not a change of position, downplaying its significance.

He said he would characterize his conversation with Short as "we are sorting (the) matter out and left it consistent with the Trump position," Manafort said in an email to CNN. "The Trump campaign is investigating if these issues should trigger a credentials challenge. A final decision will be made when our investigation is finished."

My neighbors didn’t think is was. That’s why our caucus precinct voted 22 Cruz to 6 Trump.

You use the term "bothered to show up" as though it justifies disenfranchising the thousands of your neighbors who were not there, probably because the need to be there was hidden from most of them. A process that relies on 28 votes out of thousands of people is not a valid system. The Communist party in the Soviet Union relied on similar numbers to rule. That you consider it ok means that you agree with the phrase, "the ends justify the means". Any person who values the principles of representative democracy would look at such results and realize that it was deeply flawed.

Enjoy your remaining time here. We know you are part of the Cruz social outreach program, in which cruzbots are unleashed on social media of all kinds to disrupt, repeat talking points and make it appear that Ted Cruz has significant support. In truth, Cruz has worn thin on everyone, even conservatives like me who started out as his biggest supporter. He is working for Hillary and the GOPe at this point.

Shutting the border is conservative issue number one.

Shutting down jihadi immigration is conservative issue number two.

Restoring fair trade for American industry is conservative issue number three.

Trump is conservative on the issues that matter. He makes progress on these, and blows up the RNC, and he will have been the second best president since Lincoln. After those issues are taken care of, you can elect beta males like Cruz to work on the school bathroom problem. He could maybe be a precinct captain in your little caliphate there in Colorado.

Well, it wasn't exactly a secret what was happening that day.

All I had to do was go on line and google "where is my caucus precinct in Colorado".

Not very "hidden".

And did Trump bother to show up?

Trump’s “wall” is hyperbole.

It’s what the reality TeeVee audience he researched over the last 16 years WANTED TO HEAR.

I don’t believe he can deliver on that campaign hyperbole any more than the track record exhibited by Trump Mortgage suggests he has a clue about how to micro manage the global economy with his hyperbolic “sliding scale”.

If he’s the nominee, I’ll vote for him - but only to help the RINO’s eat the poison fruit they planted the seeds for.

Trump is a reflection of the demoralization of American culture - if WE do not take responsibility for that, then WHO will?

If that allegation is true then the family of the individual who chose to commit suicide should sue Jeff Roe for defamation or something.

Meanwhile, the historical FACT is that Manafort collaborated with Soviet Communists in their effort to prop up one of their own in Ukraine.

At this point, Trump would really have to underperform to finish at 1236 or less. I’m now projecting him to be over 1300 with the upcoming contests and the polls are looking better and better. There is an outside chance that Trump may get all 172 CA delegates. They are apportioned winner-take-all by congressional districts and even if Trump finishes at 34% with Cruz and Kasich at 33% each in a particular CD, he gets all the delegates.

The recent CO poll, posted here yesterday, shows

44% Trump
34% Cruz
17% Kasich

Cruz got all the delegates, and Trump got to win a big victory with this statewide illustration of the corruption in the system.

This has been a small illustration of the difference between a church mouse bean counter candidate and a visionary candidate.

Why do WE find it acceptable that Professional Political Parasites like Jeff Roe and Roger Stone are allowed to infest the process of Government Of the People, By the People, For the People?

I do think Trump will build a wall (or as currently legislated) a fence, at least as far east as the Rio Grande. Where I think Trump will be a disaster on illegal immigration will be amnesty.

Yes, actually I have a problem with people of all political persuasions that seek to undermine and suppress the vote. But I do understand exactly why TeamCruz needs to suppress the vote —>it is the only way Cruz wins. And now it appears his own tricks have backfired and Cruz has Colorado-ized himself.

Colorado is already promising that everyone gets to vote in 2020.
Donald J. Trump will win Colorado in November, it will be yuge based on the polling done days before your cockeyed convention.

There has been a lot of agitation from the Trump Camp about the caucus process in Colorado – and, maybe, now we know why. A Magellan poll released today shows that in a head to head match up, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump would beat his opponent Ted Cruz in Colorado.

Here are the numbers when voting on the current ballot:

44% – Trump

34% – Cruz

17% – Kasich

5% – undecided

If voters were asked to choose between Cruz and Trump, the result is little changed:

48% – Trump

42% – Cruz According to the poll, Trump’s top spot is due to his strong stance on immigration and national security. From the poll summary:

“Simply put, support for Donald Trump is being driven by his dominance among the 22% of voters that believe stopping illegal immigration is the the top issue.

Among those voters, 59% support Donald Trump and only 26% support Ted Cruz. Additionally, of the 20% of respondents that chose “National Security Issues” as the top issue, 40% support Donald Trump and 27% support Ted Cruz. To summarize, on each of the top two issues, Donald Trump holds a double-digit lead over Ted Cruz, including a substantial 23-point lead on the issue of stopping illegal immigration.”

This survey was done on April 5th and 6th of this year of 609 likely Republican primary voters in Colorado. The survey was not paid for by any candidate, campaign, committee, independent expenditure committee or individual, according to Magellan.

Who is whining?

I’m celebrating.

The results could hardly be better, they certainly are better that if a strict percent allocation had been followed.

Trump would have gotten a few delegates, but wouldn’t have the illustration to show the corruption.

A lot of Cruz supporters don’t understand that. Our guy Trump won big with the overreach of CO, and it benefits us in so many ways.

Including the real possibility of having an actual primary next time.

This is how a tyrannical system should be overthrown.

Big reason to celebrate.
