This issue is a no-brainer and it would have been laughable even just 2 years ago. I'm disappointed that Trump didn't hit this slider out of the park. If he would have just said men belonged in men's restrooms and women belonged in women's, his poll numbers would have skyrocketed to the point where Cruz would have been begging to be Trump's running mate.
Trump's handlers are very smart on this issue.
He is going to need to pivot, hard, to the left in preparation for winning the general. Giving away all the social issues reduces his target size.
He doesn't need the conservative base anymore, after all, what are they going to do, allow the Hildabeast to win?
And I'm being really serious here...looking at this situation with Realpolitik, he has to do what he has to do. I don't particularly like it, but I do understand it. Virtually all presidential candidates go through the same transformation.
I haven’t talked to one blue collar dem (the ones I have spoken to are all from NJ) that isn’t aghast at the party leadership on this issue. They are tolerating the gay crap up to a point, but this is a bridge too far, at least for this election cycle. It’s inexplicable.
What is the difference between saying what he did about muslim immigration and not wanting men who are attracted to women to use women’s bathrooms and other private areas? I mean come on, it’s not that hard. It would infuriate all the right people, which in turn would make everyone not completely whacked out at this point to laugh and point.
