Cruz picked up just 65 of the 94 delegates up for grabs yesterday.
You mean to tell me that quietly, steadily, and playing by the rules Cruz just wiped out the equivalent of 2/3 of all the delegates Trump thinks he got in NY last week?
You mean Trump can't just smash-mouth through this whole thing and make up his own rules as he goes along, as though in the end the real decision makers will care what "rules" Trump thinks he wants to play by?
I think Trump is just now starting to find out what Ted Cruz has known all along and that is that picking delegates is more akin to a representative process, not merely a popularity contest - kind of like the way our Constitution set things up for the Federal Government - a representative government, not mob rule like it appears some favor around here as they are merely looking for their own version of "Il Duce."
Trump is trying to elevate himself with a system where only his rules matter -- like any aspiring dictator in history has ever been.
It's why I tell the Trump worshippers here that willfully choose to ignore what and who the man is and has ever been for the "mensch"-image he's playing up in front of the cameras today to be careful for what they think they are wishing for.
As with any autocrat who comes to power, his acolytes will be the first he'll throw under the bus. If he ever secures the nomination in the end they will have their "strong-man" alright, and they'll be left patching what's left of their bruised egos, when all they'll have left at that point is buyer's remorse.
Given his "business man's" "too bad for you" response to NC standing up for preserving the inherent security of the privy, to his politically correct accommodation of pervertedly mentally ill men in his own bathrooms at Trump Tower, I suspect the mask is starting to slip and his supporters and delegates are starting to wake up, and be reminded about what they didn't like about him in the first place and prior to a mere 9 months ago.
Imagine that I just learned last week that there are some seriously pervertedly mentally ill persons posting as FReepers to this board too who are among the most obnoxious of Trumps acolytes. They may actually be DU deep cover (there's a lot of them around here these days) but Trump's their man just the same.
There's still time left in the race and likely more mask slippage to come that can make sure that his currently Stockholm-syndrome suffering starry-eyed supporters don't ultimately choose to endure what will only be their certain abuse at the hands of "Double-down Donny."
California is going to quite interesting.
