The link is not up yet, but a few minutes ago Trump was interviewed by Sean Hannity who asked him to clarify his remarks about the NC transgender law. Trump basically said NC is feeling the pinch of a boycott and that's too bad. Hannity asked him how he thought the issue should be settled. Trump said it was a local issue and the Federal courts should never get involved. That's all he said about it. Hannity didn't ask him did he personally think drag queens should be allowed in whatever bathroom they want to use. But I did hear a spokesman for Trump say today in the Matt Lauer interview he was referring to someone who has went to court and had their sex changed on legal documents, as in after they have a sex change. I would suspect Trump will clarify what he meant in the NBC interview in a statement. When the Hannity interview is available I'll post it.
Mr. Flip Flop has revised his remarks yet again.
Too late. Damage done.
What was the JibJab tune from 2004? You’ve got more waffles, than a house of pancakes . . .
Nope. We are deranged Trump supporters. We don't need no stickin' reasons. Deal with it.
No damage done whatsoever. Only people who care about this is the Cruz minority on this board. The rest of the country can care less.
Only to cRuzbots.
No one - other than cRuzbots, here....and Hannity - are really even talking about it.
Meanwhile....cRuz’s numbers - and recognition - are rapidly going down the rabbit hole.
Hey....don’t be so hard on Iowa David. He took a looooong, several year hiatus from FR....just to resurface, recently, as agitator against the Trump campaign.
Yeah. That’s why he has to clarify on Hannity to speak to the few of us on this forum. About as realistic as anything else said I suppose.
Nonsense. Aside from the 3 dozen threads about it on FR, no one is talking about this. Most people don’t care, and those who do would never support Trump anyway. The entire issue has been washed away by purple rain.
The fact is, Americans are divided on this issue, largely along age lines,as yesterdays IPSOS poll shows:
Americans aged 18 to 29 favor letting transgender people use the restroom of their identity by a 2-to-1 ratio. Among Americans aged 60 or more, the ratio was 2-to-1 in reverse with people saying restroom use should be mandated by the gender on one’s birth certificate.
Forty-four percent of women favor letting a man who is in transition from male to female into their public toilets, compared to 39 percent who say they must use the facilities matching their gender assigned at birth.
“As long as they’re not harming anyone, not harming children, and are dressed as male or female according to the bathroom where they are going, they have the same rights as everybody else,” said Debbie Dellera, 65, a Republican and Donald Trump supporter from central New Jersey who participated in the poll.
Overall, the public is roughly split, with 43 percent saying they are closer to the view that people should use public restrooms “according to the biological sex on their birth certificate” compared to 41 percent who opt for “according to the gender with which they identify.”
The poll of 2,039 people was taken April 12-18, amid running controversies on the issue in several states, and has a credibility interval of 2.5 percentage points. The credibility interval is 5.5 points for the 18-to-29 subgroup.
This is a non-issue for the Presidential race, as it is determined by state law and court decisions.
Funny, I was working in Boston today and the liberal women there are more conservative on the issue than Trump. Admittedly a small sample but all went with the Penis, Vagina, Other option.
Okay, whatever you say boss.
That's what he should have said in the first place, if he felt the need to say anything, instead of kneecapping a fellow Republican and a state executive taking a moral stand against the monster of political correctness run amok.
The truth of the matter is the the NC law is untenable. The issues surrounding it -- private property rights, privacy rights, nevermind the newly-minted sacred cow of "gender-identity" rights -- will make it impossible for the law to stand in court. But that doesn't make the law wrong. It's a common-sense stand against the encroaching insanity of men in this country demanding the "right" to go to the bathroom with little girls.
Damage done?
I think not. Look for another 2 point swing in his favor. He did not say what the media portrayed that he said.
You’re accusing Hannity of coaching his guests? After 20 years on the air....with no proof, or former complaints of this....you’re accusing Hannity of coaching his guests? Maybe you’re confusing Hannity with Beck, the cRuz advisor...or Levin.
You are sadly mistaken my FRiend.
That’s correct. The Cruz supporters had their world rocked Tuesday night when Cruz got his clock cleaned. They are now going to grasp at straws by magnifying and distorting every utterance that comes out of Trump’s mouth to gin up controversy and sow FUD. It’s all they have left because Cruz is getting creamed in the primaries, when actual people are voting.
Lobbying for transgenderism now? Lol.
