It is interesting then that you choose to put your faith in a man who makes misleading statements on a daily basis and who has a long history of reneging on his word. Nearly everyone on this forum has views that are very close to Cruz's stated positions. The problem is that his actions have spoken louder than his words and have alienated most of us. Nearly 9 out of 10 of us no longer trust Cruz. Are the “chumps” those of us who refuse to accept lies over and over again or are the true believers the “chumps”.
Trump is a successful businessman. Before I was hired by a fire department I came from a small business background. The people that I knew who were successful small businessmen kept their word. The reason they were successful is that people trusted them and chose to continue to do business with them. Businessmen tend to be much more honest than lawyers and politicians. Lawyers and politicians have a reputation for saying anything to win. Ted Cruz has more than lived up to this reputation during this election season.
You might want to carefully reconsider who is more likely to renege on his word if elected.
Again, I'm not sure where the presumption comes from that I think Cruz (or any other person) is a perfect candidate and that Trump stands out as the worst.
Before any of this started I had a list of positives and negatives on every candidate in the Republican field, Cruz being no exception.
What astounds me about most Trump support is that it comes off as blind loyalty, with very malleable personal convictions that can change daily in order to align behind the candidate. He is thought of as a champion and any negative brought against him is treated as heresy, and every perceived challenger is evil incarnate.
If someone says, "Trump is a pompous, arrogant guy, but I think he's pragmatically the best choice." Then I'm all ears. I know that the person is at least not blind to reality. In general I put my trust in ideology, not politicians (and everyone in public office is a politician). People always disappoint.
