I think the GOPe will try and push a super duper social conservative agenda against Trump to maybe cut evangelical voters away from Trump to Cruz in the run up to the convention or force Trump to have to go right and make him seem unelectable as a conservative. Either result is designed to weaken Trump.

The Establishment GOP don't care about wining - they want to stop Trump by hook or crook. Of the two best answers Trump can give to minimize the damage it is to sacrifice the social agenda ultra right to pivot towards the middle. This is a fight to the death over Islam/borders and trade. That is all that matters.

They will back Hillary with millions. Well, they won’t “back her” but they will do everything they can to secretly make sure Trump does not win. They will attempt to make voters stay home on red meat issues that they as politicians have done NOTHING to fix, like bathrooms or wedding cakes.
