Protectionist. “We’re getting screwed by the Chinese”. “We are paying to defend Europe and the Far East”. He’s preaching to the middle (or formerly middle) class American who’s wages are stagnant or dropping, or whose jobs have gone away.
I get that part but as you said that’s preaching. It’s not economics. He is promising them a better life because he will save them from evil. Problem is the evil is US government policies not Chinese. But its hard to get Democrats to vote for you on an anti-government platform so he rails against the Chinese.
