In a sense of political correctness turned political irony, the abolitionist and underground railroad conductor will replace Democrat President Andrew Jackson.
On Wednesday the U.S. Treasury reported that Tubman, who during the Civil War was active in the Union cause, serving as a nurse, a cook, spy and scout, will replace Jackson on the front of the bill. The seventh President, whose supporters founded what became the Democratic Party, will move to the back of the bill along with an image of the White House.
Jackson, noted as a military man, has in recent years fallen out of favor over his treatment of Native Americans and the fact that he owned slaves. Earlier this year groups railed against the naming of a new warship, the USS Jackson, by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, despite the fact that the vessel was named in honor of Mississippis capital city by the former Governor of the Magnolia State.
Tubman on the other hand was a supporter of the anti-slavery Republican Party, though some argue she may not have been a fan of Mr. Lincolns at the time.
Further, to a degree she encouraged insurrection against the Federal government, helping abolitionist leader John Brown recruit volunteers to seize the Federal Arsenal at Harpers Ferry in 1859.
Biographer Kate Clifford Larson has noted Tubman was comfortable with guns:
Harriet Tubman carried a small pistol with her on her rescue missions, mostly for protection from slave catchers, but also to encourage weak-hearted runaways from turning back and risking the safety of the rest of the group. Tubman carried a sharp-shooters rifle during the Civil War.
Harriet Tubmans pistol and saber are on display at the Florida A & M University (FAMU) Black Archives in Tallahassee, Florida.

Some additional notes on Jackson that you may find interesting:
In 1828 Andrew Jackson took a run at the US Presidency. Throughout his campaign he railed against the international bankers who controlled the BUS. (Bank of the US - the predecessor of the Fed.) Jackson ranted, You are a den of vipers. I intend to expose you and by Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people understood the rank injustices of our money and banking system there would be a revolution before morning.
Jackson won the election and revoked the banks charter stating, The Act seems to be predicated on an erroneous idea that the present shareholders have a prescriptive right to not only the favor, but the bounty of the government for their benefit does this Act exclude the whole American people from competition in the purchase of this monopoly. Present stockholders and those inheriting their rights as successors be established a privileged order, clothed both with great political power and enjoying immense pecuniary advantages from their connection with government. Should its influence be concentrated under the operation of such an Act as this, in the hands of a self-elected directory whose interests are identified with those of the foreign stockholders, will there not be cause to tremble for the independence of our country in war controlling our currency, receiving our public monies and holding thousands of our citizens independence, it would be more formidable and dangerous than the naval and military power of the enemy. It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government for selfish purposes to make the rich richer and more powerful. Many of our rich men have not been content with equal protection and equal benefits, but have besought us to make them richer by acts of Congress. I have done my duty to this country.
Populism prevailed and Jackson was re-elected. In 1835 he was the target of an assassination attempt. The gunman was Richard Lawrence, who confessed that he was, in touch with the powers in Europe.
Still, in 1836 Jackson refused to renew the BUS charter. Under his watch the US national debt went to zero for the first and last time in our nations history. This angered the international bankers, whose primary income is derived from interest payments on debt. BUS President Nicholas Biddle cut off funding to the US government in 1842, plunging the US into a depression. Biddle was an agent for the Paris-based Jacob Rothschild.
The Mexican War was simultaneously sprung on Jackson. A few years later the Civil War was unleashed, with London bankers backing the Union and French bankers backing the South. The Lehman family made a fortune smuggling arms to the south and cotton to the north. By 1861 the US was $100 million in debt. New President Abraham Lincoln snubbed the Euro-bankers again, issuing Lincoln Greenbacks to pay Union Army bills.
The Rothschild-controlled Times of London wrote, If that mischievous policy, which had its origins in the North American Republic, should become indurated down to a fixture, then that Government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off its debts and be without debt. It will have all the money necessary to carry on its commerce. It will become prosperous beyond precedent in the history of the civilized governments of the world. The brains and the wealth of all countries will go to North America. That government must be destroyed, or it will destroy every monarchy on the globe.

My personal theory? Jackson was a southerner who was pro union and spoke for preserving the Union. The South was on its way to being re-integrated in American society again and we had a Democrat in the White House a decade earlier. It was probably seen as a gesture to Southerners. Just my pet theory.
Americans always get freaked out when the money design changes - overseas money design changes frequently and no one gets worked up over it. It happens in the USA and suddenly we are bombarded with conspiracy theory freak outs. It is no big deal. In fact I would love to see the faces on the money rotated out every decade. Ronald Reagan on a bill for a decade followed by a new presidential face on a bill for another decade, etc.
Somebody is just making crap up and hoping no one who has studied history will read this.
Andrew Jackson left the Presidency in January of 1837. He died in June of 1845.
The Mexican war, therefore, couldn't have been "sprung on" him, as it didn't start until April of 1846. And the Civil War? April of 1861, 24 years after he left office and 16 years after his death. That would be like associating LBJ with the first Gulf War, it makes no sense whatsoever.
I stopped reading when I read “Rothchild”.
Guns played a huge role in ending slavery. No surprise that the typical SJW type would be ignorant of this given the sorry state of the education system. On a related note, PJ O’Rourke once quipped that the abolishionist movement was in large part supported by a bunch of White gun toting Christian zealots.
My Sharpie awaits...
So Obummer wants to get rid of Andrew Jackson - yep - hates him like he hates Churchill - for the same reason: Jackson went after the Muslims - He stopped the Muslims from expanding their Caliphate - stopped ‘em cold on
the shores of Tripoli” - and thereafter, we’ve had the Marines.
And we’ll all let Obummer get away with it....we’ll opine and tsk tsk but we won’t contact our reps and holler loud and clear...

I 100% oppose this change to our US $20 bill
Rothchild is make believe. Like E.T.
This morning I see on Drudge, not only is Obama changing the 20, but the 10 and the 5.
Gee, won't America have a thrill up it's leg?

“Obama administration says pro-gun Republican Harriet Tubman to grace the $20 bill”
Not only will her image appear on the new 20, it will “grace” it. Well, isn’t that special.
I think we should demand that Ronald Reagan goes onto the $50 dollar bill.
I would love me some Reagan money!
I believe that you are confusing Andrew Jackson with Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson was the president when Eaton, et. al, fought the Muslims at Tripoli.
The left loves to attack white culture and heritage in the hopes that white people will fight them on it so they can then accuse us all of being racists. On the other hand, if we don’t defend it, they get to erase and replace our culture and heritage which they get off on. Renaming highways and schools is an example of this. Removing memorials to confederate generals is another. We shouldn’t give them anything without getting something equivalent in return. I want Reagan on the 50.
How about the quadrillion dollar bill? Whatever it is, they’ll be called “gippers” and that’s final.
