Well, this IS my area of study. I wrote a slew of articles on Jackson and the bank, and specialized in this area for about 10 years before moving on.
Jackson was a turd. OK general. Creep as a president.
In reality, Jackson, being first Democrat President, was the first to truly "break" the Presidency, he give the Supreme Court the Finger during the Trail of Tears and should have been removed from Office because of the Nullification Crisis.
But since he wasn't, that is when the Presidency first truly got away with anything it wanted, regardless of the Checks by the Other Branches.
Which would lead to so much.
F.D.R. and the Gold Theft comes to mind.
The President can do what ever he wants if he has the will to do it. And it all started with the First Democrat President.
