“Destroying the party was the express purpose of many of the Trump supporters. It looks like they may have succeeded for this year at least...”

And why shouldn’t it be? The party is working more or less completely out in the open to deny our chosen candidate the nomination. Party hacks like Romney are coming out and fighting against Trump with more vitriol than was EVER aimed at Barack Obama. Reince Priebus and the GOP-e clearly hope and plan for a contested convention.

So what reason, exactly, do we have to be in ANY way supportive or loyal to the GOP?

So then why is Trump running as a Republican? If the party is so evil, shouldn't he be starting his own?

After Trump loses in July or in November and goes back to reality TV, we can begin trying to build a conservative party. Not until then, unfortunately.

Because the GOP is completely different from the GOPe. The GOP IS America.
