House Republicans are aiming at the Internal Revenue Service this week, taking up four bills to ensure integrity in hiring and better customer service.
We have recently learned that IRS employees that have been fired for misconduct have been rehired in the last several years, Rep. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) told a news conference on Tuesday.
Now some of this may involve falsifying documents they failed to pay their own taxes. They may have been fired for accessing sensitive taxpayer information without permission. In fact, one employee had missed up to eight weeks of work without permission, had actually stamped on their personnel file, Do not rehire and the IRS chose to rehire them.

Radio host Hugh Hewitt is a former counsel to the Office of Personnel Management. He has said on his show that as it stands it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to fire a Federal Employee if they don’t want to go.
Not true. They are easy to fire. Just have someone accuse them of a racist or homophobic act.
Boom! Outa there.
Trump will clean that corrupt IRS butt.
The question then is WHY?
Unfortunately, unless Trump has changed his stance, promotes a progressive tax plan. He’z said nothing about abolishing the IRS.
Hope he changes his opinion.
IMPOSSIBLE to fire a Federal Employee
I went to the Post office the other day. The employee there(works for me, remember?) was rude to every person who he waited on. Nasty to everyone like he was doing us a favor being there.
This makes me furious. Yep, I am 54 guess the old age will ware that out.....NEVER!!!
Its part of that old Brotherhood we should be kind to others, I know my husband says what planet are you from??!!?!
“Trump will clean that corrupt IRS butt.”
And the VA!!!!
Unions + layers of Civil Service protections that started accruing during the Progressive Era.
Hewitt was the top lawyer for the personnel agency so I presume he knows what he’s talking about here.
You can help rob a bank and spend time in prison and still keep your govt job. There was an article posted this morning of a VA employee that did just that. VA rationale was it did not happen on VA time.
I briefly worked in a unionized grocery store as a kid.
Was packing bags at the checkouts one day when the cashier exploded on an old lady customer, screaming at her and calling her a Mother (something) old BI**H.
She was fired. Damned well deserved to be. She came back a few weeks later. The union had gotten her rehired.
It was all I ever had to know about unions.
should... be... along... aaaany minute, now...
Thoughts as a VP?
Maybe these people need to be branded on their forehead, DO NOT HIRE FOR FEDGOV WORK or something.
Cruz said get rid of the IRS and file returns on a postcard. Too bad reality tv has taken over politics.
If someone has been fired for misconduct, by rehiring them you have implicitly said that their conduct was really not too outrageous. But you can also pressure them to do dirty work, work that you may not want to be known. Say, political tasks that are inappropriate for an apolitical agency. (Blackmail, works on the SCOTUS, Congress and many other agencies!)
Yeah, VP of my house, baby!
Hopefully she has a little too much common sense and will not get involved with this current crop of presidential aspirants (or my house, for that matter). Way too much hatred and vitriol being flung around. Anybody with half a brain will steer clear of this election cycle and let them smear each other into oblivion. This isn’t going to end well for all involved and more importantly, for the country.
You ROCK!
