So I take it you’re conceding all my points. Argument over; I win

OK fair enough

The fact is Donald Trump does not have a united conservative base. That is a fact. I don’t care how many votes he got more than someone else in a primary election. The base does not include so call Reagan democrats or Bernie voters they are not part of the republican conservative base. There still is a huge rift between a lot of Cruz supporters and Trump supporters and Trump and Cruz themselves at this point

Secondly I could vote for Trump if and when he is the nominee. That depends what he does during the general election campaig. As bad as I feel he is he is better than Hillary Clinton. At least I know Trump would never tax me to death. But I am under no illusion that Donald Trump is anywhere near a Reagan conservative. And just like Ted Cruz should be held accountable for statements he makes and votes he has taken in the Senate, Donald Trump should not be excused for donations he’s made and statements and positions he’s had in the fairly recent past.

Any disagreements I have with Trump and my skepticism I have with Trump is all based on everything that can be proven. If an accusation is ever made against Trump and it can’t be proven I have always given him the benefit of the doubt . I would never use the National Enquirer or left-wing websites to attack him. Both sides have done this against the candidates that they don’t like here . If you are a Cruz supporter everything that is negative about Trump true or not is believed. And the opposite is true . Now what we have is both sides at each other’s throat and two candidates that may end up being too toxic to win in November . And make no mistake about it Hillary Clinton is not going to be as easy to beat as some want to believe. The electoral map favors her right out of the gate. I do not hate Donald Trump. In fact I admire the way that he attacked political correctness and not only survive but thrived . And I have not ruled out voting for him but I have not ruled in voting for him either . But if I ultimately decide to vote for him I will continue to have my doubts and skepticism about him. And I will not hesitate to be critical of him regardless of whatever I decide . No candidate should ever be followed blindly and unquestionably. And whether one supports Trump or Cruz, the reality of it is they they could end up losing in November

I have never seen an election where the Republican base has been so divided. And I worked with a local Reagan for president group in 1980. And the battle between Trumper’s and Cruzers is worse now than it was in 2012 with mitt Romney

A lot of healing is going to be need to be done between now and November

Okay. If that was an apology, accepted, and one extended back at you too.

Your current points may or may not have merit. I was only able to skim them, because it’s past midnight and I need to do the Vulcan face meld with my pillow.

The short version is that I HOPE that we are able to come together and beat Hillary. And yes, I am going to fight against anyone who attempts to prevent that coming together with bitterness. Even if that fight is just posting on FR.

I’m not going to try to claim that it’s going to be an EASY fight, but if nothing else, it’ll be better than Romney or McCain. Yuck. Both of them divided the base about as badly, and even the part that was with them wasn’t at all enthusiastic.

At the moment, however, other than some very loud neverTrumpers, the base IS enthusiastic this time around. And at the very worst, the candidate is a wild card. Which is a lot better than the lose/lose less propositions of the last two elections.
