Trump signaled the time has come for this line of thinking with his speech last night where he referred to "Senator Cruz" rather than "Lyin' Ted". Trump is pivoting to "party unifier" mode and it should be clear to everyone after next Tuesday that he is the de facto nominee. There's a lot of fence-mending needed between now and July and I expect to see a lot more of this sort of tone from Trump going forward.

Cruz is young enough that he should recognize it's not yet his time and that he can now choose to either look to the future or dig in his heels and damage not only his party but also his own political future. The time to do that is this month and whether he does so before or after next Tuesday is his choice. But if continues to try to be a "disunifier" it will be impossible for him to reunify the party even if he manages to gain the nomination. That's the only path Hillary has to victory. Something for Mr. Cruz to consider carefully.

“Cruz is young enough that he should recognize it’s not yet his time and that he can now choose to either look to the future or dig in his heels and damage not only his party but also his own political future.”

Cruz should try to emulate Nixon. He could have done a Gore in 1960, because the election WAS stolen by Kennedy (Joe, that is), but he chose the country over his personal interests. In 1966, after licking his wounds (which were ripped open in 1962 when he lost the CA governor’s race), he helped many Republicans win for Congress and at the state level. They owed him for 1968, and that WAS his time.

Please, Senator Cruz, exit gracefully and get something for yourself in the process - and let’s go to battle against Hillary and the Dems. You have PLENTY of time left, and you will have other opportunities to run for POTUS. Some things are not meant to be...yet. So give “yet” a chance.
