Those were the two vp prospects I’d been thinking of since 2012. Still think it is Julian Castro over Booker with the Hispanic vote now taking priority over the black vote. Part of the reason behind the memes that Cruz/Rubio and Cubans aren’t really Hispanic and that their Spanish is no good. Should be interesting to see how that already riled-up group reacts in the post-Obama years as the Dems push them aside and increasingly ignore them (what has Obama really done for them other than support BLM?) as they concentrate on building the new Hispanic plantation.
They got Alan Grayson from Florida. He's only 58.
They're also cultivating lots of out-of-the-box talent, like Lena Dunham and Sandra Fluke.
And don't forget Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who will soon be finished with that city and ready for something bigger.
There is one big difference. The DNC is trying to ensure Hillary gets elected. The RNC is trying to ensure that Trump doesn’t get elected.
Blocking Trump is just the first step of the RNC's agenda. The second stage will be thanking Cruz for his service, telling him to step aside along with by-law 40, and nominating their candidate of choice (Jeb Bush or someone similar). So it's a more meandering path than the DNC's coronation of Hillary (the GOP doesn't have as many unpledged delegates, so they need to get creative), but same principle.
The only guy I heard mentioned was Sherrod Brown. All of the VP candidates will check different physical boxes (black, female, gay, handicapped - whatever) but they’ll all be socialist on the inside. The packaging doesn’t matter.
