We are Godzilla.

A terrible force that came from the sea and destroyed Japanese cities.

It helped them cope psychologically with what happened.

Then as we rebuilt Japan, Godzilla became something of a protector, and with Baby Godzilla, even a friendly presence.

Technically, “Godzilla” is French. He (It?) is an unintended result of French nuclear testing in the Pacific.
