Public infrastructure in Kampala, Uganda after Idi Amin was in disarray. At one point the sewer backed up in one area and raw sewage was flowing out the manholes and across the streets. City traffic running through the mess would turn it into an aerosol spray which pedestrians would inhale.
Voilà! Doctors were soon seeing many cases of gonorrhea of the sinuses.
