“But he needs to win over the Cruz supporters somehow.”
There are far fewer of them than you think. All this subterfuge stealing delegates does two things:
1. Skews the delegate process by their not really being elected.
2. Pi$$es off those who originally thought Cruze was an honest guy.
“There are far fewer of them [Cruz supporters] than you think.”
Don’t kid yourself. Living in an echo chamber is dangerous. You get the feeling everyone thinks like you.
The reality is that MILLIONS of people took the time and effort to vote for Cruz. These are among the diehard core of voters the Republican candidate MUST have to win. Same applies to Trump’s supporters.
I will admit that Trump will more easily win over Cruz supporters than Cruz winning Trump supporters. But for both candidates, it will be simply IMPOSSIBLE to win in November without uniting the base.
No amount of positive thinking is going to change that. You can try to move objects with telepathy and levitate, but it just is not going to work.
This Republican primary is like a road rage incident. Sometimes people get so angry over being wronged or being in the right, they forget that it does not matter who is right if you are dead. Don’t play chicken with a semi. And don’t do it with the most important election in our lifetimes.
Time to bury the hatchet and unite the base. I am voting for Trump or Cruz in November. Hopefully both.
My preference:
1. Trump-Cruz
2. Cruz-Good VP pick
3. Trump-Good VP pick
4. Anyone but a Dem
