The U.S. Army on Friday announced it has approved the first 22 women to be commissioned as infantry and armor officers after new rules issued last month opened all combat roles to female service members.
The move is a major milestone on the road to fully integrating women into combat jobs. The Army is taking a leadership first position by first placing female soldiers in leadership roles in combat roles that were not previously open to them, then allowing those women to train and mentor female enlisted combat soldiers.
The 22 women are near completion of their officer training and will be commissioned as second lieutenants in coming weeks, USA Today reported.

I don’t think so; this is just another step towards morphing the military into an armed Red Cross. Our government has no intention of fighting a conventional war with grunts again; we’ll safely lob drones from several leagues away.
These women will never see combat; they will just pretend they can fight. Already done it with cops...

Having female leaders in jobs such as the infantry is important, since they can serve as role models for enlisted women who may elect to join the infantry or other ground combat jobs. Newly commissioned lieutenants in the infantry generally serve as platoon leaders in charge of units of about 40 troops.
But who cares if they're combat-qualiied, since the important reason for the women being in the combat positions is to serve as "role models" for enlisted women in combat.
Those in the miltary chain of command responsible for all of this all the way up to and including Bathhouse Barry should be tried, convicted and sentenced for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
We could agree then that whoever decided this role for women never was in combat. Of course these gals are destined for a quick promotion up to safety.

Officers do not train and mentor. NCOs do that. An officer “Mentoring” a young enlisted soldier is called something else.
They’ve taken the country; let them defend it. If someone attacks them, why would I (an Anglo male with Anglo male children) even care? We’re criminals in our own country; let those receiving preferential treatment take the bullets for their new utopia.
Exactly, and if the truth be told these brand new officers, if worth spit, will be listening to their senior NCOs.

That’s the plan. Women typically are assigned desk jobs, the desk is the position of authority, and in 5 years you’ll see nothing but women in Major slots and above and very few men. The women will circle the wagons and no man will ever be promoted above Captain. I’ve seen this in the corporate world with middle management throughout most companies being comprised of nothing but women.
I am firmly opposed to allowing females into the ground gaining combat arms and into Special Operations. but I find your post to be gobbledegook. Female soldiers, Marines, and other services have served in combat for over 25 years now. Their role to date has not been ground warrior, but all soldiers must be able to engage in combat when required and women have done so, suffering wounds, death, capture by the enemy, and have been recognized for acts of valor.
The change is that they will be allowed to become full members of infantry, armor, Special Forces units and will be expected to perform all assigned tasks across the full spectrum of combat. This, women cannot do, even including the exceptional physical specimens. This is a political and social engineering stunt and will fall on its face as will do the women convinced to signing up for it.
As for your understanding of what will happen going forward, you have a faulty grasp of the next steps. These women, from several commissioning sources will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in Armor or Infantry branch subject to meeting physical standard and will be sent to their officer basic branch course. They will then be assigned to a unit as a platoon leader. Second Lieutenants, while the authority of command are not expected to demonstrate proficiency. Teaching them how to do this is the job of their first Platoon Sergeant. Lieutenants are advised to pay attention, learn, and recognize that the Platoon Sergeant is a real soldier and you are only so by Act of Congress.
Those women who fail will end up in some other branch, many of them through no fault of their own, but simply because the job requires physical skills that they will not have. No one in Washington will give a damn what might happen to them.
I’ve made no claim of expertise regarding military training, ranks or procedures nor did I attempt any historical survey of women in the services.
My aim was simply to note that the PR which was clearly the basis for this so called news story is full of contradictions, weasel words and catchphrases typical of the PC Pentagon.
My questioning of the proposed plan is based on the language of the plan itself and/or the PR accompanying same, nothing more. If we are presented with this sort of flannel from the government, we are entitled to reject as such.
FR certainly has a higher than average quotient of military vets who know their stuff but there is an unfortunate marked tendency to cross the line from detail to pedantry.
I make no apologies for my post and my main point stands: integration via segregation in any population is oxymoronic and impossible.
