A new op-ed published by the Global Times, the mouthpiece of the ruling Chinese Communist Party, claims that Russia humiliated an arrogant United States when its warplanes buzzed a U.S. Navy ship in the Baltic Sea earlier this week.

STENNIS, in the South China Sea As it tries to persuade Beijing to abandon its military buildup in the South China Sea, the Obama administration has been reluctant to describe its approach as a revival of containment, the Cold War strategy aimed at preventing the spread of Communism. It insists that its policies in Asia are neither targeted at China nor focused on military measures, as containment was against the Soviet Union.
But on a six-day visit to India and the Philippines this week, Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter left little doubt that China is one of the Pentagons primary concerns in the region and that the United States intends both to strengthen alliances and move more hardware and troops here to counter Chinas growing military reach.
