Donald Trump's soldiers in Georgia are waking up -- perhaps too late -- to what's at stake on Saturday, when Republicans gather by congressional district to pick more than half of the 76 delegates and alternates who will attend July's presidential nominating convention in Cleveland.logo-all
This morning, Trump state director Brandon Phillips sent out an email that was one-half alarm bell and one-half plea. It included this paragraph:
"Mr. Trump won Georgia by more than 14 points, almost 200,000 more votes than his next closest rival. He also carried 155 counties out of 159. Ted Cruz didn't win a single county. Because of this landslide victory, Mr. Trump was awarded 42 delegates. We're asking that the Republican officials honor his victory this Saturday with fair representation."
The email goes on to list Trump coordinators in the 14 congressional districts, with this message:
"If you are willing to attend one of these meetings this Saturday morning and show your support for Mr. Trump, please contact the volunteer coordinator nearest you."
Here's the thing: The selection of delegates who will represent Trump in Cleveland, as well as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, is now a closed process. If you weren't selected as a congressional convention delegate last month at the county-level meetings, you will have no standing at Saturday's gatherings. Other than as a spectator.
Moreover, in most congressional districts, the processing of applications to be a delegate in Cleveland is nearly over. For instance, in the 11th District, interviews for potential delegates were held on Saturday and Tuesday. A final session will be held tonight. More than likely, if you haven't applied to be a delegate by now, you're out of luck.

Why do you assume that? Your FR handle serves you well.
But it's not like he gave them thousands of dollars. He just talked about legislation with them. Most important about Marco is something that we may need to have down the road; if Trump doesn't make it...young women, middle class Hispanic/Latinos and our Cuban American allies energized for Florida.
It is just an option that needs to be thought about now...so that there are no surprises. I know he lost Florida...but things have changed and are continuing to change rabidly.
Never hurts to look at the lay of the land ahead and have somewhat of a contingency in place...just in case.
The bottom line is to rest control of the Republican Party away from the Chamberpots and the One-Worlders.
We are closer to doing just that...than most think.
Jedi.
Part of me understood...what with the battles getting quite heated.
Most of me was appalled by it.
I'm a let it all hang out in the open kind of guy. Engage in the fights as best you can...take what you can and give more back when you can.
That said; let me propose a toast...you Trumpsters raise your glass of Trump Wine...
You Cruzaders lift your spoon full of Chunky Soup...
My FRiends: TO THE WAR!!!!!! LET THE RAGE AND RUIN STRENGTHEN US ALL!
Oh look! There goes another delegate.....
:-)
Jedi.
I agree that Rubio deserves a chance to redeem himself. I like him personally but he made several big mistakes that he must show he learned from before I can back him again.
The first is the Gang of Eight episode and stance on illegal immigration.
The second is over scripting. He has to speak directly and from the heart not just thirty second memorized focus group talking points.
The third relates to the second in being genuine. He made the mistake of trying to out insult Trump.
He could be a VP candidate if he can accept the second place role and work hard to show he has learned his lessons.
I'm sure that Donny the Demonrat Donors friends like Nancy Pelosi and Chuckie Schumer would be overjoyed at your “educated and well thought out” observations.
The letter from the Clinton Foundation is in the mail.
Jedi.
Pssssst....hey pal....pal.....pssssttt...need delegates?
heh.
Have a little faith.
The battle rages on.
But we're winning.
Jedi.
There’s a thing called logic. If McConnell is backing Cruz to the Hilt, and Cruz has loaded up on the Bush team people, plus an actual Bush—and a crook at that—Cruz is preferred by insiders.
Use your head. If McConnell preferred Trump, his SuperPAC would not be all in for Cruz. If the Bushes preferred Trump, Jeb’s people + Neil would not be working to elect Cruz.
Too many of us.
Too few of them.
All the money in the world will not change that.
I have found that the folks determined to take over the GOP are committed like never before.
As Sean (Hannity) the suit-sniffer would say; “Let not your heart be troubled”.
heh...he's a cupcake...
Jedi.
Now if Crispy would only set his sights on the real target...
I will be at my district meeting tomorrow so we will see what happens.
Well he sure ain’t Jackelope Breeder RIP
Are you kidding?
Good lord
You know what else I noticed with chubby blonde
Megyn kept looking over at her from jump street like she knew her
I told Annie right off to look at Megyn to pimp that nevertrump sweatbeast
Laura’ Ingram just dropped f bomb on her show
Poor dear
She’s in twubble
:(
Oh, Oh, poor Laura ... I must remember to listen to her radio show!
Yep, MEgyn either got had or she’s in on the “professional panelist” gig. I think the latter, given that she treats that Stuart Stevens like a respected news source, when he’s the originator of the Mississippi-14!
Look like people know a liar when the hear one. They are paying the lies no attention. Good for them. #NeverCruz pic.twitter.com/pzfYTV3FKo— Diamond and Silk (@DiamondandSilk) April 15, 2016
I am starting to agree. Let Cruz destroy the party and the United States. He is an expert at that.
We may have bumped into each other as I was there as well....
There is an amnesty now for old exiled freepers. So tell us your old freep handle, or buzz off. For extenuating circumstances, try private mail or email (mine is findable in about ten seconds).
I don’t mean to harp on this but you’re not overweight
I’m maybe 15 pounds heavy
Look at all those obese people
It’s a symptom of the country
Laura’s misstep is news now
I am against the Republican leadership choosing the nominee against the will of their voters, which almost all Cruz supporters here seem to be perfectly fine with, so long as it’s Cruz that benefits (rather than Trump, Bush, Rubio, Ryan, Romney, etc.). I think Republican voters should rule over the will of the party establishment, whether national or state leaders. Cruz is working overtime with the establishment to deny the will of Republican voters. If it were Jeb Bush doing what Cruz has been up to, the Cruzers here would be beyond outraged.
