"The phone call which featured Rove, Crossroads officials and a pollster laid out swing state polling and electoral map analysis done by the group showing circumstances in which Trump could beat Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, in a general election, according to three sources briefed on the call."

What Rove is saying privately about Trump's electability is very different from what he's saying publicly.

I would keep away from him, or just pay him lip service to keep him from stirring up trouble.
George W. Bush won his election for himself, Rove didn’t win it for him.

Rove just came to the realization that he is going to quickly be on the outside and not be able to buy food to stuff in his doughnut hole....
Just another suck-up opportunist...

Trump has no problem with electability. He has already shown that favorability numbers can swing, and quickly, when the right buttons are pushed. If Trump gets the nomination it will be fun seeing the northeast in play for a change.
I don't know if the 25% black vote polling stills holds up, but I can picture a LOT of black men voting for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton is a VERY weak candidate. Any Republican whose last name isn't Bush should be able to beat her.

Of course, Rove is going to warm up to Trump. Trump is a classic Northeastern RINO at heart.

I’m not suggesting cozying up to Rove. My point is that Rove is telling his paying clients that internal polling and electoral map analysis show that Trump can win, while he’s on TV spouting the party line.

I’m no fan either, but this sure blows the “Trump can’t win” meme right out of the water.

Look at how badly cruz did in the south
I read he carried not a single county in SC
You really think all those voters will hold their noses to vote for him over Hillary?

Exactly. If you want to know the truth, follow the money.
Rove can say whatever he wants on TV, but he has to tell his big-bucks clients the truth, or they won’t be clients for very long.

Yeah, I am a "Cruz bot" who has him winning the Bush-Kerry states 2004 for starters and then some.
HRC will not have the high black turnout of Obama, and she can be easily pummeled by a Lee Atwater '88 style campaign. Unlike Romney or McCain, Cruz is willing to attack.
I say something nice about Trump, and it has to be turned into something against Cruz. Sheesh!
