Sorry, I wish what you said was true, but it does not seem to be the way you say it is in the Northeast. The polls you mention do not say anything like you think they do when compared to individual swing states I mentioned. Cruz is polling lower than Kasich here. Same is true in Florida.
Most folks who are in the middle, the ones the republican need to draw into the fold (around 6 to 7 million votes) see him as unprincipled. I have heard that on numerous occasions and the arguments made as to why he appears that way are not entirely without basis. He has run a very hard campaign, but one not entirely free of deceit.
Now I have to mention this, and I do know a fair number of fairly strong supporters of Cruz. You say he is conservative. He may well be, and I hope he is. But the perception here in the northeast is that he is driven by a self centered ambition, not duty. I know the Cruz folks cannot conceive of this, but that is how a lot of folks view him, especially veterans (I know a few of those)
Of course I could be wrong and we will see on the 19th and the 26th. If Cruz does well in the northeast then you may well be right; we will see. I suppose there is not much more to say about it until that vote is in, it will serve as a reality check to both Cruz supporters and Trump supporters.

States which voted for Kerry: Pennyslvania Michigan New Jersey Maryland Florida, Ohio, and Virginia went for Bush. I think the reason we lost those 3 in 2008 and 2012 was two fold. 1. A very populist candidate was running whom was young, exciting (misplaced, but still exciting) and a minority. 2. Both times against older, crusty white guys whom completely made the base unexcited or worse, irritated because yet another establishment candidate was put up. Won't happen this time. Now the roles are reversed. 1. Boring, same old politician, one being a socialist the other HILLARY CLINTON. 2. Ted Cruz is EXCITING. The base would LOVE for a rock solid conservative to get in there. What happened the last time a conservative ran? A RESOUNDING victory! The following election? Just about a clean sweep. Had it not been but for about 3000 votes or so, it would have been. Ted Cruz WILL provide that level of excitement as the nominee, and WILL provide that level of victory in the general. Count. On. It.
