You see, contrary to the impression that many people have been left with over the past couple of days, Colorados traditional caucus-night poll had never been a binding, primary-like election. Thats not how it worked. It was a simple straw-poll nothing more, nothing less. It wasnt the process used to distribute delegates to the candidates.
The nomination procedure in this state has been driven by the election of representatives for over a hundred years (except for from 1992 to 2002). It starts with grassroots caucus attendees from local precincts voting on congressional-district delegates (their neighbors) to represent them, and ends at the state convention a few weeks later when the representatives finish selecting national delegates to back a candidate at the national convention.

Which goes straight to Ben Franklin..."A republic, if you can keep it."
Keeping it requires being both informed and involved. Informed cannot be only looking at television. Involved cannot be only posting on the internet.
Or will you soon demand the installation of pure democracy?
That's a good point. But, for a candidate to get caught flat footed speaks volumes to both his seriousness and his competence. Gotta have the ground game.
Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."
Thanks for the good news.
The process is there for all to see and work with. We will see if Manafort is the answer if NY goes strong for Trump. Every single county is in play for obtaining delegates.
My concern is that until this year I had no idea how little the opinions and cast ballots of actual voters mattered. It is outrageous to me that some of the things that are happening this year are not new, are in fact the norm, and we only noticed because half the party is trying to stop the frontrunner.
Weve always done it this way, and its within the rules are in my mind weak reasoning for poor behavior.
This election has been a real eye opener for many of us re the lack of morality of the GOPe from DC to many states.
“Its Iowa on a stick. Yeah. No big deal. Move along Folks.
Like anyones vote matters anymore these days. ;-)”
The problem is where they want to stick that stick and use it with us.
But, but, but... women on FR absolutely love and adore Donald Trump. The polls all lie (except for the ones that show Trump is awesome and invincible.)
The “Trump hates women meme” is in your head. Gallup has Trump at 70% negative among women, and I ask again how does he overcome that in the general?

Yet Cruz couldn’t win women on friendly turf in WI? What an awful candidate Ted Cruz must be.
That is absolutely my view as well. Surely we have not come this far to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. All this demonizing strategy needs to stop.
You didn’t answer my simple and clear question.
You didnt answer my simple and clear question.
So Dem women and women suporters of other GOP candidates have an “unfavorable” view of Trump? Shocking.
Actually, you didn’t answer my question. You say Trump is such an awful candidate. Yet he solidly outperforms Cruz. What does that say about loser Ted Cruz? It says he will never be POTUS.
“simple straw-poll”
The GOPe and and Cruz and the Bush pigs and their corrupt, undemocratic, Party Syndicalism and their “simple straw-poll” and stick it where the sun don’t shine. Get these un-American oligarchs out, and send Cruz and his foreign Falangismo rule by Party delegates back to whatever island he and his blood suckers crawled out from under. Get out of my country, with your foreign Falagismo rule by “delegates” and this entire corrupt “system”. Screw them, this is all about an oligarchic rule trying to crush the anti-establishment by means of despotism and syndicalism by Party elites.
STOP CRUZ!
FREE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!
I understand your inability to answer simple questions about Mr. Trump’s troubles with female voters.
Obama’s failures are always Bush’s fault!
Trump’s failures are always Cruz’s fault!
Pathetic. Really pathetic.
What’s pathetic is Cruz in 3rd behind no hope, no money Kasich in NY, MD and battleground PA. This is the lion of conservatism that is going to slay the hildabeast? Laughable.
Typical LIV cult of personality Trump whiner. I asked how Mr. Trump will overcome 70% negatives with female voters in the general election and you respond with attacks on Cruz, Kasich, and the Hildebeast in the primary.
Here’s your sign!
>>And Mr. Trump should stop Cryin about the rules and grow up.
I agree. he should learn the lesson and move on. But he does need to publicize these rules as he learns them to uncover the dark Progressive underbelly of the GOP. The party will deny the nomination to both Trump and Cruz, so the only real goal now is to ensure that it ceases to exist as a significant political entity next year. The party will hand the WH to Hillary and the Dems will take Congress as an unintended consequence.
Then, all that is left is the decision that all patriots are eventually forced to make as tyranny takes control.
Perhaps this is what Jeb meant when he said he didn’t need the base.
