Cruz belittles Trump's response to delegate defeats
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/11/16 | Ryan Lovelace

Posted on 04/11/2016 2:42:38 PM PDT by markomalley

Ted Cruz mocked Donald Trump for "a lot of whining" and "cursing" over losing delegates to the Texas senator on the campaign trail.

Cruz told a California crowd he won "11 elections" in the past three weeks and said Trump has been beside himself ever since. The senator picked up scores of delegates in Colorado this weekend, which prompted Trump to deliver an indignant response on Twitter questioning the nominating process of the Centennial State.

"Now in response, Donald has been yelling and screaming, a lot of whining, I'm sure some cursing, and some late-night fever-tweeting. All the characteristics, I would note, we would want of a commander in chief," Cruz said on the trail in California. "And the latest thing he's seized upon is when people vote against him, they're stealing the election. It's a really odd notion. 'Well what is this democracy of which you speak? Wait, wait you mean voters get to vote? No, no, no. No, no, no.'"

Cruz went on to tout the importance of the upcoming Golden State nominating contest, and said it would determine the outcome of the entire GOP primary.

"I'm going to say a sentence that has not been said in 50 years. California is going to decide the Republican nomination for the presidency," Cruz said.

The California primary's 172 delegates will be up for grabs on June 7. Cruz is campaigning in the Golden State this week, and is making stops in Irvine and San Diego on Monday.

If you think this Crap is OK, then imagine every state doing this. Hell, why bother with voting for anything, let politicians decide everything...

> “But hey, as I’m been told around here that Ted is super smart for stealing delegates and stopping the democratic process.”

>So what was Cruz supposed to do? Be stupid like Trump and IGNORE the system and leave delegates on the table? Cruz didn’t stop the democratic process, the GOP leaders of Colorado set up the rules for that state long before Cruz or Trump were even running for president.

If Cruz was nearly as smart as you think he is, he would have made sure both Trump and Kasich recived some delegates to make the process at least seemed fair. Instead he and his supporters went around crowing about how smart he was to win without voters.

Trump on the other hand realize the fix was in and waited for Cruz to over reach and brag about his amazing voter-less victory.

That can’t be healthy in the long run.

Ted is from a dysfunctional family. I think he has a lot of problems!

The kids are cute!

Yes, but the oldest daughter seems really sad and stressed. Definitely red flags going on, I hope her parents notice.

I agree, it is going to be hard for either one to get support after making these type of comments.

All the campaigns knew how this things was going to go down since Last August. Cruz organized his people to get involved in the process. Trump did not. Trump supporters would walk into the caucuses not knowing what they were doing, probably not having looked at the change sin the rules, and got skunked. Now Trump is trying to claim that there were cheated. The truth is that Trump has not spent enough money on his national-wide organization.

The GOPe should have at least given some of the delegates to Trump, a couple to Kasich to not make it look so obvious.

Does anyone really believe that Cruz would have won all of the delegates if there was a primary ?

Have noticed the non-response answer to the question earlier too, or how they drifted off into another subject. I really did want to know the answer to the question....they did vote in Colorado, didn’t they???

“they did vote in Colorado, didn’t they???”

Another good question. Was there a vote in Colorado?? If not maybe that’s why no one can answer how many Cruz, Kasich and Trump got.

And That is a Colossal “only sin”.
For an accomplished constitutional lawyer, Cruz knows full well the scared importance of a citizen’s right to vote for their representative, and cleverly CHEATED ONE MILLION citizens of their vote for his own benefit.

He did Not have to go along with the GOP’s dishonest plan.
The fact that he did proves he’s as cravenly unprincipled as the very republican establishment that dislikes him.
They’re all untrustworthy bass turds.

RE: “Cruz’s only sin is that he was smarter than Trump and figured out how to play the system that existed in Colorado”

This plays right into hands of the Trump campaign. The worst thing Cruz can do right now is appear indignant.

People in the northeast and CA have been and will continue to be fed a steady diet of Cruz steals and cheats.

Ted Cruz’ gloating will be used against him.

How does Cruz “betray” someone who is his opponent? How many people on this forum know that every state party has its own way of doing things, that the national party is a federation of state parties? Trump has effectively used the national media to give him a huge amount of coverage, and because he has done well with voters who take part in politics only during the excitement of major elections, he wants to persuade them that a presidential election is something very simple. It is not. that it ought to be cheap? It is not. That the pluralities he has achieved in the primaries makes him the right to the nomination. he complains about the rules, but the rules also proportionately give him a larger share of the delegates than his share of the total vote in the primaries. He is right that the majority of party leaders, from the national level down to the local level do not want him as the candidate. So he is truly to bully his way to the nomination by persuading his supporters that THEY are being cheated, He knows better.

Not true. They changed the rules in August. I’m pretty sure all the candidates had declared by then.

How many votes did Kasich and Trump get in Colorado??

Do you know?

From the number of times you've posed this question, there is obviously some importance you are assigning to any possible answers, or there is some point you are trying to make.

However, since winning the Republican nomination is based on how many delegates you secure, and not how many "votes" you "get", I'd say the premise of your question is flawed.

Now, if you asked if I knew how many DELEGATES Trump got in Colorado....yeah, zero.

Rather than having a mature, Presidential response to the whining from the Trump campaign

Trump's whining doesn't deserve to be dignified with a dignified response.

“Wow he makes me sick. ... I actually believed he was “the only principled candidate in the race”. He proved how stupid I was to believe him. Six months ago no one would have believed Cruz would be where he is right now - in bed with the GOP elite.”

...

My experience, too.
