the real minimum wage is zero. increasing the artificial minimum wage will absolutely increase the number of people making the real minimum wage.
If we have a $15 an hour minimum wage here I will have to increase prices by 50%, just to make the same amount I am, which isn’t much.
I am already facing pressure from overseas competition. If a printed t-shirt from me costs $10, but they can buy it online for $7, I’m out of business.
Bet on it.
Good, at lease I’ll get my orders correct for a change.
“As for White Castle, never heard of it before; I don’t think they have any presence of the West Coast”
They will need to start really worrying when In N’ Out Burger starts moving eastward, Harold and Kumar not withstanding!
Exactly...and without the 'tude as well.
“But its a ripple effect.”
People forget about that. Raising the minimum wage means that all the wages above the minimum wage will need to be raised as well, to account for the normal wage gaps between jobs with varying skill and responsibility levels. “
Yeah, when the dust settles, the poor bastards who have to “rely” on these entry level jobs (that the RATS seem to think are capable of supporting a family of four) will be right where they were before the MW hikes. You can’t defy the “Laws of Economics!” For the RATS, this is further evidence that they have yet to perfect their ability to pick up turds by the “clean end”
A minimum wage that is too high also creates a demand for illegal immigrant labor and when you couple that with the ridiculous paid medical leave laws the Democrats are seriously creating a market for illegal alien labor!
Ah oh, somebody is math challenged. It is a simple math problem.
Cost of labor =30%.
Cost of everything else =70%
If labor cost doubles then labor goes from .30/dollar to .45/dollar = .70 + .45 = $1.15 (new cost basis). A 15% increase in cost basis not a 50% increase LOL. Labor goes from 30% -> 39%
9 % inflation is not a crisis, it is bad but not catastrophic.
Please ditch the hyperbole.
White Castle sliders are horrible. Which is what makes them so darned good!
Well, you might have people there now making $15 an hour, who worked a few years to get there. Now you have to pay them more than the entry level workers. You can’t have guys who have been there for a while earning the same as the new hires.
If I started at $9.50 and worked my way up to $17.00, I’d be might pissed to see a new guy making $15.00 away, and then $17.00 shortly thereafter.
If you start them at $15, how do raises factor in? Are they at $16 after one year?
On the other hand, Barack might not have gotten his start at the Baskin-Robbins if they couldn’t pay hom the $2/hour training wage he was worth.
Yes, used those machines not too long ago. They were great. You could order exactly what you wanted, the way you wanted it, and you got printed proof. I had no complaints. Used them several times the last time I was on vacation in PA.
If I started at $9.50 and worked my way up to $17.00, Id be mighty pissed to see a new guy making $15.00 right away, and then $17.00 shortly thereafter.
Fixing that mangled sentence...
Mine was in Jacksonville, Florida, and it was a very nice place and people to work with. It was a Drive-In with car hops like Sonic is today, just like in the movies American Graffiti and Porky’s. Hot rods and all!......................
Correct! And if anybody thinks illegals (of any stripe) will be different than belligerent natives in the "fun" activities, think again. Excellent; critical analysis!
My local McD’s have cut out the dollar menu, at least the two closest to me. They then had the 2 for $5, which I could rarely afford, and now that’s gone too.
