Sure, but party primaries are not constitutional processes. They are intra-party processes to select candidates any which way they choose.

What it does do is expose the true motives of the ruling class, because the people don't differentiate the primary vote from the Constitutional office vote when they see their "vote" taken away from them.

Even though primary voting is a sham, the reputational damage to the party is enormous when they play fast and loose with the process.
