It’s really sad about Rush. What’s happened??? I can’t listen to him anymore. Turned him off about a month ago and haven’t gone back. I mean I stuck by the guy from before his Marta marriage, through the drugs, hearing loss, The Slut comment, and marriage to Katherine. But now, something has changed him and not for the better. I think he’s finished.

Trump happened! Limbaugh has the role of "permitted dissenter," to allow people to blow off steam without threatening the established order. Limbaugh is part of the established order, at least to the extent that he will limit his on-air expressions to those that are acceptable to the established order.
Limbaugh has always avoided or ridiculed issues that were real, and important, but controversial. Can a dual citizen be president? (Obama) Did the government go too far in Waco (Branch Davidians); he's given open mic to establishment guys who faced a threat, and allowed them to lie on air (Arlen Specter, on taking Soros money).
Nobody who is part of the established order can avoid being damaged by Trump. The order demands that Trump be opposed. Limbaugh has no choice. Trump is outside of the realm of "permitted dissent."
He’s lost his objectivity. IMHO, he could be somewhat jealous of Mr. Trump because Rush could be imagining himself “running” in Trump’s place and doing much better ... not making Trump’s “mistakes,” being much more knowledgeable on all the issues, detailed etc.; drawing these huge crowds and getting all of this attention, flying around in his own private jet, etc. AND getting to tell off MSM!
Who knows? LOL.
I do think there’s some ENVY and a little jealousy going on.
