In the latest shock for the GOP, which in recent weeks some have speculated is willing to scuttle the entire republican presidential campaign if it means not having Trump as the candidate, according to a just released Reuters poll, one third of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on their party in November's presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention.
Or, as The Hill puts it, "blocking Donald Trump from the Republican presidential nomination with a contested convention would spell disaster for the GOP" because instead Trump supporters would vote Democrat, vote third-party or sit out the election.
Just 66% of Trump supporters, which as of this moment are the most numerous of any presidential candidate, said they would support the GOP's nominee anyway.
Should it get to a contested convention, the GOP could be hurt even more in November because 58% of Trump supporters said they would stay with the party, while 16% would leave and 26% responded they didn't know, yet.
The results are bad news for Trump's rivals as well as party elites opposed to the real estate billionaire, suggesting that an alternative Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 presidential race would have a tougher road against the Democrats.
Do you understand the meaning of the word “other?”
The GOPe, Lyin' Ted + his minions have been ordained by the Almighty to pull FACTS out of their arses -- The ends justifies the means with the #NEVERTRUMP cadre.
Hell, it's worked for the DnC from the 1960s thru Obummer, must be AOK according to We the Sheeple...
Rule of Law be damned!
So many Tea Party big wigs supporting Cruz has made me decide to abandon my membership in three Tea party groups!
If I have to write in Trump because neither he nor Cruz are on the ballot, then I have no party to vote for. I’d vote for Bernie in that case ( if he is on the ballot) because he would light the fire to burn down the whole rotten system.
“A lying nonconservative” with a 100% ACU rating, A+ NRA rating, 100% rating from he Taxpayers League, was a lawyer working on the Heller case that WON in the SCOTUS...
Vs... Trump. Who invited the Clintons to his wedding and thinks Bloomberg is “a great friend and a really nice guy.”
Agreed! The little phony couldn't even get 50% in his home state, the allegedly Conservative state of TEXAS!!!
Other... what? I've been commenting about dems and indies supporting Trump in open primaries, so I'm not sure what coded message you're trying to send here.
...who also supported Obama in 2008.
Those buffets?....you failed to mention the whine, shrimp canape, caviar.
Oh!, ..oh my, oh my, .the shoe is on the other .foot.
Trump has won 37% of the primary vote. ..but has over 40% of the delegates.
So who is cheating now? Hmmmm?
1. Trump will have more votes won
2. Trump will have more states won
3. Trump will have more pledged delegates won
You forgot something very important:
Trump has won 37% of the primary vote, not 50%, not 50% plus 1. And certainly not 63%. The rules for 160 years, through 40 GOP conventions REQUIRED a majority of delegates. EVERY TIME. Why should 37% dictate to the rest of the party?
Donald is spending half the time whining that he can't negotiate that, even though many did it in the past. Maybe he should read "The Art of the Deal." The Trump people want to change the rules, in the middle of the game, to allow a candidate incapable of getting the majority of delegates to win, and ignore the majority that did not want him.
Trump actually got a higher percent of the vote in FL than Cruz did in his home state. How funny is that?
Whoever it is going to be needs to win outright. Too Much Bad Blood would have been brewed in our own ranks for the Repub Nominee to win. (We control our own destiny, 2016 is ours to lose)

I agree 100%. Sadly I do not see this happening, nor do I see a unifying event on the horizon. What I do see here on FR is at least 4 years of Trump supporters blaming Cruz supporters, and vice versa, for all of the nightmares that a markedly leftist court will bring on top of the many Hillary-authored Executive Orders.
The Colorado Guy That Said he Couldn't VOTE:<
Let's get this straight: He went with his credential to The State Assembly showing that he was a delegate to the County Assembly.
So the voters at his Precinct Caucus at 7 pm on March 1st DID NOT vote to send him to the State Assembly to represent them. So why should he get to vote there? If you go to a Nuggets game with a Rockies ticket, are they going to let you in???? really??? The guy is apparently illiterate, and so are a lot of the journalists covering this.
County has to do with State House Representatives and Senators and County issues. Some counties DID elect to have a straw poll, ours was 71% Cruz, 18 % Trump, 11% Kasich. It's El Paso County, the biggest County in the state, home to 31% of the state's registered Republicans. The simple fact is, Trump has little support here, probably less than Cruz has in New York.
"There is no voting!" says Trump, lying. Ignorant. The fact is, he can't organize himself out of a paper bag.
While the only hope the USofA had, to relegate the GOPeeRs/DemoRATs UniParty/Deep State to the trash heep of history, was completely lost because Trump made the mistake of not running Independent - A mistake that will not only cost him the election, if Trump isn't locked-up/dead after 8 years of Hitlery, he'll be living on a SS stipend.
Don't forget; We've already been gutted-like-a-fish by the fools that voted for this P.O.S.:
Time to prepare and say your goodbyes now...
Fifty Million babies murdered in the womb and you think God still favors our Nation?
Well then, Ivanka Trump in 20!
Have you any survey data that contradicts all the existing numbers that show Cruz would be crushed in November? Maybe by a little less but same results. These pre election polls are just cr@p no one is running against Hillary yet.
Cruz has majority? Who knew?
And yet you can't understand why Trump supporters will not vote for Cruz? Just Wow.
