New Yorkers head to the polls on April 19 to vote in their primary election. Two pretty high-profile Donald Trump surrogates, however, will be shut out of the polls: Ivanka and Eric Trump.
New York, as it turns out, has a "closed" primary--and neither Ivanka or Eric are registered Republicans.
Donald Trumps three oldest children have campaigned with their father and served as surrogates during the presidential race. But only one of them is actually a member of the party Trump hopes to lead.
Records from the New York State Board of Elections show that neither Ivanka Trump nor Eric Trump is enrolled in a political party. Trumps oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is a Republican.
In what is certainly an unusual election law, New York voters had to register with a political party by October 9 in order to vote in the 2016 primary. New York is unique in this extremely early requirement. First-time voters had until March 25 to affiliate with a political party to be eligible for the primary. Ivanka and Eric are not affiliated with any political party. (Donald Jr. is a registered Republican, and no voter information exists for Tiffany Trump. The youngest Trump child, Barron, is 10-years-old and ineligible to vote.)
This is a pretty head-scratching slip-up--one would think that someone would have made sure that everyone associated with the Trump campaign would at least be eligible to vote for him in the primary election.
They're popping champagne corks at Town Hall today. Preferred vintage? Chateau Cuck.
is it possible that they’re registered in another state, not NY
Honestly, does any of this crap matter? Ted’s folks are trying to disenfranchise and replace the voter with paid deligates.
Honest reporters should look at where Cruz’s funding is suddenly coming from.
This is just another move by Teddy’s folks who are working on the Chicago method of registering the dead.
Bad reporting. Does “not affiliated with a party” in NY also mean not
registered? And what did they find when they investigated the adult children of all the other remaining candidates?
That does it for me, I'm not voting Trump......
That makes sense
Some how I don’t doubt it.
to be honest, someone who wrote this article should do more reporting e.g ask eric and ivanka about it. I’m curious about their answer
Actually, I’m unaffiliated (Independent) in CT and technically cannot vote in the April 26 primary here. I’m still debating changing my affiliation to Republican so that I can vote for Trump. I have until April 25 to do so. I guess I’ll end up doing it but it’s going to leave a sour taste in my mouth because I’m so fed up with the GOPe. But I don’t want Trump to suffer as a result. I guess I can change right back to unaffiliated afterwards.
not in a closed primary like New York is.
yeah, well, whatever is easiest on them.
Oops
Donald J Trump Jr is a chip off the old block. A jimmy rustler.
Jr is the most like The Donald.
so because you don’t like it you think it’s not true?
My husband isn’t registered with either party. It never bothered me until this primary season. He was just in our kitchen bitchin’ about the hit job that’s going on towards Trump. I wanted to say “well you should’ve changed your affiliation to republican then you could put your money where your mouth is”.
This report is completely false and total rubbish. Go to @realDonaldTrump and find the truth. They have both voted in past Republican elections. Lots of crap false reports floating around.
Irrelevant.
No, it says they’re not registered in any political parties.
