“Read John Jay’s letter! John Jay was to become the FIRST CHIEF JUSTICE of the Supreme Court. George Washington passed on Jay’s suggestion to the Framers of the Constitution.”

And where did John Jay DEFINE who is a “natural born citizen?”

Answer: He did not.

In response to John Jay’s letter, the Constitutional Convention required that a president must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years (out of 35 years minimum to be President).

The Constitutional ommittee used Vattel’s description of a natural born citizen in Article II. They had already named Vattel’s Law of nations in Article I. They ALL KNEW WHAT it meant, since they all studied and had access to the Law of Nations, the preeminent authority on International Law at the time.
