Captain Obvious (me) here, I don't think the party has been secretive about leaning toward the #NeverTrump sentiment, and it stands to reason that the population of party members at the state and local levels (and nominally conservative chatrooms like FR) includes a substantial number of people who will do everything they can get away with to prevent Trump from being nominated.

FR's Pro-Trump support is at 80 percent according to daily caucus. The NeverTrumps, what very few exist, tend not to last very long.
