The 97% number is a statistical selection bias that has been pointed out numerous times. The original number came from a SURVEY and unsurprisingly 97% of respondents agreed with the biased assertion of the survey. This is How to Lie With Statistics 101. I'm confident that this is true of the research papers as well. Since you don't get funds to say AGW is false, there is a clear selection bias built into the research.
