Do you dispute that the republicans should nominate someone who will win?

Their destruction campaign of Trump absolutely proves that is not their goal. How would the debate be framed right now if they had not devoted so much energy and money trying to destroy Trump and yet he still stands.

That’s the crux of it. Trump’s unfavorables have been helped along by an onslaught of GOPe attack ads, in conjunction with media hysteria.

Had any of this “politics of personal destruction” been aimed at Cruz or Kasich, he’d be sitting in a corner rocking back and forth.

Think about that for awhile. Lets, assume you are correct and that the barrage the GOP establishment has unleashed is the reason Trump has such high unfavorables, is running behind both Sanders and Hillary, and can only get about 40% of the vote. If Trump is so vulnerable to this attack, what makes you think he’d do any better against Hillary?
