A trial and conviction, then death, would mean some closure for the victims and their families.
When a war criminal dies of old age before trial, he essentially got away with murder.

But what does this say about the “victims and families” attitude towards God? God is the one who made the alleged killer cease to live, just like He will make the others cease to live some day.
