Law enforcement responded to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas on Friday on reports of an active shooter.
The Bexar County Sheriff posted on Twitter about the reports at 9:50 a.m., ET.
Sheriff tweet.
About 25 minutes later, the same account said officials were working to clear the base's buildings.
Sheriff tweet 2.
Soon after, the Sheriff's account said "we have victims" at the still active scene.

Well, I think it is VERY important that U.S.Military installations remain “gun free zones” (just like children’s schools).
I mean, why on earth would we want U.S.Military to have guns? USPS, etc sure, but the Military having guns? Whatever for?
(yes, overdue for my meds...or to be elected President...Forward!)
um, uh, couldn’t we solve this by having designated “safe zones” or “snowflake retreat rooms”?
We don’t want no big, nasty aggressive types in the Military, I mean...that would be SO non-metrosexual..
You may not know what a “ Shelter in space” is, and I happened to know because I work in an industry where they make everybody learn about it but a “Shelter In Space” is a place where everyone is supposed to know about before hand and can run to in order to hide from a gunman.
The restrooms down in Dover Air Force Base had signs on the door signifying that they were a “shelter in space” location. That does seem to be a little bit silly, since it announces to anyone with a gun that there are people hiding inside.
The bigger issue I have with the whole “shelter in space” thing is that this is the US military. I consider it reprehensible The people are not even allowed to carry around their own personally owned weapons that they are licensed to do so on base. They can carry around those weapons when they’re off base, but they can’t carry them on base?
I would expect that from a store like JC Frikking Penney’s, or some other piece of crap liberal store or organization.
But an Air Force Base? Or even more agree just say, a Marine Corps base?
The concept of members of our military being forced to run and hide from a single shooter with a single gun is anathema to me. It really offends me.
See my post just below yours...I feel the same way.
It’s wrong.
Shelter in PLACE. DAMNED SPELL CORRECT.

The two dead were two Air Force PJs. A TSgt, who apparently was a prior enlistee because he had only been on active duty for a year and back in an E-6, pararescue. He was an ex FBI agent. The CO, a Lt Col he killed was probably another PJ, as the Air Force started commissioning officers into the field in the early 2000s. These guys are the best of the best the Air Force has. I never heard of anything like this happening in all years I was on active duty, and knew many PJs. Probably something personal.
Yes. It has to be something like that.
Local reporting says that the NCO was a rather new guy (was in the FBI three years ago), and had the rank of TSgt. The NCO was at the school for para-rescue training, and failed the water-course. Some prescribed method after you climb out of the water is that you ring the bell to indicate you just can’t perform the action (they instructed this and it’s mandatory about the bell-business).
Well, this former FBI-guy turned NCO...just got out of the water and walked out of the building....then went AWOL. When the cops finally find him....he gets returned to the base, and there’s to be a disciplinary hearing.
Apparently, he was nuts....brought along two pistols to the hearing, and the commander tried to grab onto the guy....telling the first sgt who was present to ‘run’.
I think when the smoke clears....the AF will go back and ask the FBI their impression of the guy and why he left. I think mental stability was a problem then, and the AF just compounded this by allowing the guy to progress into the para-rescue school...with expectations on the guy himself.
Has been around it for years. It is the spin off of crawling under your desk drills we use to do in school for A-bomb attacks.
Sorry. Did’t mean to offend you. It was the spell check since I was using speech to post it and changed it to “shelter in space” as you can see right after I posted it.
Most people don’t know what it is (or didn’t until recently), so you are some one who knows about this stupid policy already.
Most control rooms were set up with positive purge systems so you went there to shelter in place and the positive pressure kept the nasty stuff out since the intake was usually 50-100' off of the ground and had monitors on it.
Oh and I did not get offended by no means.
The shelter in place for a fire arm intrusion is pure male bovine scat especially when you are unarmed unless there is a way to keep the bad guy out like a safe room where the "shelter in place" happens. But to just sit in your chair and hope the guy with the weapon does not show up is pure JCS crap.
I see...I now understand your earlier response to me!
You think those two incidents are even comparable?
There not even in the same realm - one is a single incident tragedy, the other was an ongoing debacle where Carter wouldn’t deal with getting our citizens home.
